Lake Tenno parking, access and the walk to Canale

A day at Lake Tenno can combine turquoise water with the stone lanes of Canale di Tenno. From your holiday base in Comano Terme, plan one lake visit and leave time for a walk, a picnic and the return journey.

If driving from Comano Terme, choose your parking area before setting off and allow extra time for traffic and the walk to the shore. Garda Trentino lists these access options:

• Località Lago di Tenno: paid parking, then about 5 minutes on foot.
• Matoni: paid parking, then about 5 minutes on foot. Both of these approaches include a long stone staircase.
• Ville del Monte: free parking, then about 20 minutes along a minor road and an unpaved track.

Without a car, check the B211 bus linking Comano Terme/Ponte Arche, Fiavé, Tenno and Riva del Garda. Use the current Garda Trentino bus timetables to confirm the stop, outbound service and return journey for your date. Do not assume frequent departures or a stop directly on the beach.

Walk beside the lake where the path is open, or choose a lakeside pause instead of a full circuit. Water levels can cover parts of the path and beach, so check local signs before committing to a loop. Swimming can be part of a warm-weather visit, subject to conditions and local rules.

Bring suitable footwear, water and sun protection. Treat swimming as an optional part of the day and follow any signs or local instructions at the lake.

The official lake-and-Canale loop is classified as easy: 4.5 km, about 1 hour 30 minutes and 60 metres of ascent. These figures cover the complete itinerary including the lake and village, not just the lakeside circuit or the one-way walk to Canale.

Allow additional time for photographs, breaks and exploring the village. Follow the map and check the route status on the official Lake Tenno and Canale walking route.

For a flexible family day, make the lake your main outing and leave Canale optional. Walking time is not the same as total visiting time: add breaks, the approach from parking and the climb back afterwards.
