Summer Holiday in the Brenta Dolomites: Comano Terme as a Base

Comano Terme gives you several kinds of summer day without changing accommodation: lakes, village walks, thermal wellness, Lake Garda and genuine mountain routes in the Brenta Dolomites. Cares is quieter than the main visitor centres while remaining connected to the places covered in the guides below.

Lake Molveno is the fuller day: a broad lakeshore below the Brenta Dolomites, with a choice between beach time, walking and the seasonal Pradel lift. Lake Tenno is the more compact option, easy to combine with the medieval village of Canale di Tenno.

Choose one according to the forecast and the group's energy rather than trying to fit both into the same day. In high summer, leave early and check current parking, swimming and transport information before departure.

Do not treat those choices as interchangeable. Altitude, ascent, weather, access and experience matter. Keep at least one day flexible and use the official route and weather sources linked from the hiking guide close to departure.

Riva, Varone and Arco can make a long combination. Families and slower travellers will usually enjoy choosing Riva with Varone or Arco on its own instead of rushing through all three.

1. Day one: settle into Cares, explore Comano Terme and take an easy walk or a quiet thermal-park afternoon;
2. Day two: spend a full day at Lake Molveno, choosing beach, lakeside walk or Pradel;
3. Day three: choose a mountain hike in stable weather, or switch to Lake Tenno for a gentler day;
4. Day four: combine Stenico with Rango or Balbido, leaving enough time to enjoy each stop;
5. Day five: choose Riva del Garda with Varone, or give Arco a complete day of its own.

This is a framework, not a checklist. Swap the order according to weather, opening times and energy, and keep one lower-effort alternative ready.
